Hot Topic: Cindy Tarver To Retire

If you are an IFE newbie, you may or may not have heard the name Cindy Tarver. I remember her first words to me, a newbie to the industry some 35 years ago (Am I that old?). Her Southern patois became evident as well when she declared, "Welcome Aboard, Dahling, you must be a little crazy... but aren't we all"? She was right.

Cindy has been a mentor to more people than I can remember and to give you an idea of her depth of experience, she has worked for many of the notable companies in IFE: Rockwell Collins, Transdigital Communications, Hughes Avicom, Intheairnet, AEI Music Services, and Billboard's Music In The Air. As for awards, she has garnered the WAEA Lifetime Achievement Award and a Grammy, all the while active in the WAEA as a Board Member and Technical Committee Director.

Since Cindy will not be attending the annual WAEA Conference in September, the upcoming Tech Committee meeting (in which she has been very active throughout the years) will take the opportunity to honor her at the networking reception on June 26 at the LAX Renaissance Hotel (see www.waea.org for more meeting info). Friends are invited to bring stories about memorable events to share. If you want to contact Cindy to say goodbye, she can be reached at cindytarver@gmail.com.

Ed. Note: We also should mention the upcoming WAEA TC in Los Angeles which promises to be a winner technically because three of the hottest topics in IFE will be discussed there - WiFI, Fiber Optics, and Portable Electronics. One day of the 2 day meeting (June 27) will be devoted to the technologies driving these new entertainment solutions. Here is all the information you need to attend. Be there!
