Hot Topic: Read This And Get A Reward!
Ok,
OK, the subject of this Hot Topic is really about a request by the WAEA TC
to get inputs to be used to address and discuss during the January WAEA TC
meeting.
The subject is "Best Practices" and while the title is not self-explanatory, the plan goes like this - airlines and IFE vendors both develop "best practices" documents and then during the sales process, exchange documents. This seems simple enough but the WAEA needs your input. Our contact says that the development of this data gives the airline a better, on-time product at a lower cost. For the vendors, they keep better schedules, fill customer requirements better (happier customers), and they reap the benefits of an on-time program. Here is what we were told:
"One of our prominent airline members has suggested that it would be good if a working group could develop a 'best practices' for project management of IFE implementation programs. He has said that the relationship between the buying airline and the IFE supplier is never smooth: Airlines have their project management practices and IFE manufacturers have theirs, and they do not seem to meld together very well. Having airlines and IFE suppliers work together to develop some best practices would probably benefit everyone. IT would be great if you could get the word out that we are looking for inputs before and during the next TC meeting re airlines' and vendors' experiences, lessons-learned, what to do, what not-to-do, etc so that the TC can put together a document on the Best-Practices for Project Management of IFE projects. Below is the invitation form to the meeting and a submittal form for the topics."
