Emphasis Video Entertainment Announces Growth with New Appointments and Expansion of its Edit Suite Capacity
HONG KONG, 30 June 2009 – Emphasis Video Entertainment (EVE) Ltd, a subsidiary of Emphasis Media Ltd, is pleased to announce new appointments as part of its business expansion plan and in line with Emphasis’ commitment to excellence in delivering top-quality IFE content and services to its clients worldwide.
The combined knowledge and experience of Kenneth Kwok as Post-Production Director and Lewis Lau as Distribution Manager reinforce Emphasis’ position as the leading content provider for the airline industry.
In support of EVE’s business expansion plans and diversification strategy over the next couple of years, the company’s in-house Edit Suite, established in 2007 to support all editing and MPEG encoding post-production services, expanded its production capacity during the recent office relocation.
The increase in video equipment not only strengthens the Edit Suite’s data backup system, but also increases operation efficiency and flexibility. The expansion of the digital content archives, on the other hand, allows a match up with the trend of digitalisation of inflight entertainment.
Mr Kenneth Kwok has been appointed as Director, Post-Production, with an expanded role to serve EVE’s long-term strategic needs. With solid experience in managing production studios, Mr Kwok worked with companies such as PolyGram Records (Universal Music), TOM.COM, Hong Kong Cable TV and TVB.
Over the past 11 years, Mr Kwok’s career in the media industry spanned from records and web video production to broadcast level video production. He produced varied video content including video promotions, corporate videos, commercial documentaries and feature programs.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (Cum Laude) degree in Communication, specialising in audio and video production from Ohio University, Athens, USA.
Adding to this appointment is Mr Lewis Lau, who joins the team as Manager, Distribution. This newly dedicated distribution function is to strengthen EVE’s position as a premier content provider and in support of its long-term business growth and diversification strategy to ensure and sustain continued success and profits for the Company.
Mr Lau has six years solid experience in movie and program distribution and acquisition for TV, video and internet and was involved in marketing, sales and distribution of programs through various channels worldwide.
Joining from International Film Limited, he achieved remarkable results in boosting sales revenue through the acquisition of new media and internet VOD business that covered a share of more than 80 percent of internet VOD and internet-café market in China.
He holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) degree majoring in Government and Public Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Ms Irene Tan, General Manager, EVE remarked, “I am extremely pleased to have Kenneth and Lewis joining our experienced team. The new organisational structure and expansion of the Edit Suite will not only pave the path for future business growth but also reflect Emphasis’ commitment to excellence in delivering top-quality IFE content and services to our clients worldwide as we pursue our shared goals of increasing customer satisfaction and operational efficiencies.”
