Astronics AES Receives First Order for New Electrical Outlet Covers from Stevens Aviation

0

In conjunction with the recent launch announcement of its decorative Outlet Unit Cover for the EMPOWER® In-Seat Power Supply System, Astronics AES is pleased to announce the fulfillment of its initial order to Stevens Aviation for a fleet installation. The new outlet cover provides an elegant, well-appointed look in keeping with business jet décor.

Available in two versions, the 24-karat gold-plated cover (part number 123505-2) provides a sophisticated finish. In addition, Astronics offers an un-plated, un-assembled kit (part number 123505-3) for installer custom finishing, allowing for maximum flexibility in coordinating color and finish with cabin interior design motifs.

The EMPOWER® In-Seat Power Supply System is a 28VDC to 115VAC inverter system that supports up to three Outlet Units per inverter. The system is TSO’d, DO-160E compliant and fully complies with FAA Policy Statement ANM-01-111-165 for certification of power supply systems for portable electronic devices on Part 25 aircraft. GFI protection, over voltage, over/under current protection and thermal load shedding are all designed into the inverter unit, eliminating the need for in-line GFI boxes, in-line fuses and controllers. Each inverter weighs only 2 pounds and provides 225VA. The system is also designed to support an In-Use Light for crew visibility of passenger use and an enable/disable function for flight crew control of the system.

“With its compact size, light weight, safety features and clean installation, the EMPOWER® system is an innovative cabin power solution for Portable Electronic Devices (PED’s) in new production and retrofit aircraft,” said Jeff Kroeller, Astronics Manager of Sales and Marketing.

A number of business aircraft in the market place either have no cabin AC power for passenger PEDs, or the AC power available is limited by the factory installed system. “With the growing customer use of powered devices, including laptops and cell phones in flight, and the need for AC power in the cockpit to support EFBs, owner-operators of business aircraft at all levels are looking for an effective and safe solution, and the EMPOWER® system is the best choice for meeting this need,” said Dave Miner, Stevens Aviation’s Avionics Sales Manager.
