Washington, DC – August 30, 2010 – UBM Aviation announced today that Mike Malik has joined the organization as chief commercial officer. UBM Aviation is a leading provider of aviation data and information products, market intelligence, publications and events for the global aviation community.

In this role, he will lead sales and marketing of UBM Aviation’s portfolio for the air travel and transport industries, the OAG data business, and the company’s corporate marketing initiatives. Malik will also serve as the general manager of the company’s U.S. headquarters in Chicago.

Malik brings over 20 years of experience in air transportation and information technology, and has held leadership positions with major companies in the United States, Europe and the Pacific Rim. He has led various organizations in a host of business disciplines including marketing, sales, finance, operations and technology.

Most recently, he was president of Aloha Air Cargo, where he was credited for bringing the company back to profitability, and successfully introduced its new brand. While in that role, he launched Aloha Tech Ops, a subsidiary that provides maintenance and engineering services to other airlines, expanding Aloha’s footprint, considerably. Under his leadership, the airline received numerous accolades including the Air Cargo Association of Hawaii’s cargo airline of the year. Before being promoted to president of Aloha Air Cargo, he served as chief information officer for Aloha Air Group.

Malik was as a founding member and chief marketing officer for MAXjet Airways, a start-up airline which provided business-class international service. He has served as president and CEO of Shepherd Systems, a subsidiary or Travelport, and was a vice president for Sabre in Hong Kong.
